Food Boxes Delivered to The Doors of Those in Need
The Worthy Box partners with local food shelters to serve as a direct-to-customer logistics solution, allowing the local food shelters to serve and reach more people than ever before.
Next up with Weekly Concept is a social good business called The Worthy Box!
I’ve decided to change it up this week and discuss a for good/non-profit idea that we have been tinkering with for the last few months.
The What:
The Worthy Box partners with local food shelters to serve as a direct-to-customer logistics solution, allowing the local food shelters to serve and reach more people than ever before.
The Why:
When it comes to food insecurities, it is a daily problem at hand. At the moment, there is often shame and difficulty when it comes to finding a local food shelter to get your food box for your family. Many have to load up their kids in your car or find transportation, drive to the local food shelter, sit in a long line before you get your box, then drive home with whatever they give you. Typically it is in some sort of reused box whether an old diaper box, shipping box, etc.
There is currently not much of an experience and there should be no shame in doing what it takes to put food on the table. It should not feel any different than those who have the means to go to the store and shop for their food, load it up in the car, and take it home for their family or to order your food online from the local store and have it delivered to you.
Why is it harder to find and get free food when you’re in need than it is for those more fortunate to order and forget about it?
With The Worthy Box, customers choose their food box and delivery frequency (weekly or bi-weekly), then they sit back and relax knowing that their food box will be delivered to their front door the same way people who use a food delivery service (instacart, etc.) do.
When the box arrives, it is in a branded Worthy Box, designed to be fun, vibrant, encouraging, and designed to make people feel worthy.
Each food shelter can add their marketing materials into the boxes that they provide as a way for them to continue to minister and support those in need.

Logistics:
Your delivery date is determined by your address and the food shelter that is providing the box. When you sign up via the website or app, simply put in your address and need and the Worthy Box system will automatically pair you with the partnering food pantry. This eliminates the need to know which pantry is closest or available to you while also making it easier on the food pantry’s side.
The Worthy Box team will follow up with the customer to let them know of their delivery day once they have matched them with the supporting food shelter.
This also allows the Worthy Box team to provide accurate data to the food shelters regarding the people they are serving. Weekly data that is provided to the food shelters will consist of name, phone number, email address, physical address, and family size of the household.
This data will be packages and presented in a way that supports the shelter’s efforts and fundraising.
Recap:
At the moment, this is simply a concept. I have had multiple conversations with numerous agencies and food shelters about implementing this model but have not pursued it any further.
